What happened was that she was chillin' on top of the washing machine, tucked in under a towel, while I took a shower, and then Lily came and used the shower door as a punching bag. I cracked the door open to yell at her to go away and when I closed it, Perry started howling (INTRUDERRRRRR) so I left it open after soothing him rather than incur his wrath. But then I forgot that it was open.

And then as I was soaping an idle foot, my eye fell on the pet shampoo. "Aha! Inhibits dandruff," thought I, "the Crazy has a sad, pathetic dandruff problem, which perhaps this will help with, and she loves to frolic in the water. So as long as I'm not dipping her in a bucket we should be fine." Accordingly I wetted her down with my hands, soaped her up, and then... she darted away, yowling, and out the door. Still soapy myself, I chased her into the bedroom, where she almost made it under the bed in all her soapy glory before I carried her back to the shower at arms' length to avoid her frantic little claws, accompanied by the sound of outraged Crazy shrieks.

Then I put her on the floor in the path of the falling water and rubbed her vigorously for 2 seconds, which was enough to rinse her, and bundled her up in a towel, where she proceeded to have an offended little bath like so:

And I didn't even get scratched, because the Crazy has a strict policy of non-violence.

I did not know this! I think I had always for some reason assumed she was a scratcher.

Hard to tell - she spends all day swaddled in blankets (or towels) regardless.

Aww, she probably had little problem with the water, but hated the shampoo. She's adorable liking her little forelegs. Yay for the cat's policy of non-violence.

Well, she did hate the shampoo more, but actually she was already objecting to the water. The Crazy loves to be manhandled, but very specifically on her terms.

That makes sense.

My cat has a strict policy of "water only goes in the mouth or my kitty dish or the mug I have claimed for my own." A good way to get him out of the bathroom is to turn on the shower, which he fears will attack him.
