If you had to be stuck on a desert island with only ONE of these two types of wank to read for lolz (and no, you can't use the computer to get help! Take that logic out of here), which one would you pick?

What is pseuicide?

It says on LJ to post here using open ID but if I'm signed up at Dreamwidth, how do I get back into open ID? And anyway, it seems to be allowing me to comment here without open ID so I don't know what that's all about. But just in case you didn't realise: on LJ, your posts come up with a little line at the bottom: You may comment at DW using open ID!

Note: I am easily confused.

The little message at the bottom of the LJ post is automatically added if you choose to crosspost but collect all your comments at Dreamwidth. It is directed at LJ users who do not have Dreamwidth accounts to remind them that they are not being badgered into signing up for Dreamwidth. If you have a Dreamwidth account, there is no reason to use your OpenID to comment.

Pseuicide is when you fake your death on the internet for sympathy and attention. See the fandom wank wiki for a convoluted, biased, and allegedly hilarious overview.

I find pseuicide vastly more hilarious than ship wars, perhaps because I've never been tempted to fake my own death, while I have been tempted to write angry screeds about how A/B is the ONE TRUE SHIP, and anyone who ships B/C is WRONG ON THE INTERNET!!!!!!!111!!!eleventyone!! So ship wars make me twinge slightly with sympathetic embarrassment, while pseuicide just makes me laugh.

That was a much harder choice than I was expecting. Because pseucide is super-lolzy, but there is so much more variety in ship wars. I think pseucide would wear thin after a while, but I could spend the rest of my life watching people angrily quote canon and call each other Nazis.

I admit I don't find either super hilarious as a rule, but I feel like pseuicide has a narrative drive that is unique among wank types. Not that ship wars can't have their epic tales - the fall of Gryffindor Tower! But they're a little more discursive. Pseuicide is always a *story*, by definition.

For me, ship wars are quite distant (I tend to agree with the detractors on all sides). Pseudicide is about more than fandom, and that makes me sad.

pseuicide makes me worry about the state of humanity a lot more than ship wars do, hence my choice.
