I have these sneakers in another colorway (metallic gold on a greenish-gold tweed pattern called "white asparagus"), and I love them. They're so springy that they make walking the dog extra-fun any time I bounce or skip!
I need a rec for walking shoes- my father is insistent, but I don't want horrid looking ones/ ones that I would feel uncomfortable in. Closest I have currently is some Rocket Dogs I got in NYC a couple years ago.
Hmmmmmm! Well... how do you define walking shoes? Because sneakers really do vary from foot to foot, but I think they are the best for walking in. I don't think so-called "walking shoes" (sneakers apparently designed for it?) are necessary; but you wouldn't want, say, Converse - you'll want a sneaker with a soft and springy molded footbed, and good arch support, that laces up and attaches firmly to your foot, so it won't slide around, creating blisters. For example, Birkenstocks are the most comfortable for standing still, and Converse are the most convenient for a day of combined sitting/standing/running/potential climbing, for me, but if it's all day on my feet (say, shopping at Ikea), I won't wear either because clogs will slide around and Converse soles aren't sufficiently cushioned.
Doctor Martens are good, as are any proper athletic shoes designed for running. Hush Puppies, Clarks, and Aerosoles are "comfort brands" that make non-sporty-styled flat shoes that could also be good (although obviously not everything they make would qualify).
A well-fitted loafer is fine for most walking, but if you're all SRS BZNS about it (idk... walking laps? Door-to-door salesman? Speed-walking to school?), then you want lace-ups I think.
Thanks! I'm more of a casual person- I live a pretty sedentary life, so my dad wants me to start walking for between 20 and 40 minutes everyday. He's very, uh. He's the sort of guy who feels you have to buy special equipment for everything, and has insisted that I need some shoes particularyly for walking.
This was really helpful :D :D :D I have lots of shoes but I'm not a shoe person (my mother buys me shoes all the time) though I can appreciate pretty ones.
