We totally talked to aynatonal and a couple of other people months ago about meeting when we're in Chicago but forgot to follow up!

Next Monday 28 September waxjism & I will be in Chicago about 8 hours. Flight's supposed to arrive at 12:20 (that's noon), though we have to go through Customs after that, and our connection doesn't leave until 9 pm, so we were planning to use the afternoon to see some fannish peeps? How's about it, dudes?

Yes! I think that'll work out reasonably well, actually--I'm taking the day off to hang out with some friends who have Yom Kippur free from work, but our plans are lunch plans, and I'm available between the end of that and a rehearsal I've got at 6:30. So mid-afternoonish?

Oh, fun! Let's see what other folks are available for and we can make a plan.

Ok, cool! We've gotta wait for Wax to wake up so she can post before we hear back from her flist, but I only know of one other person on mine in Chicago and I don't know if she's been around lately...

Update: devon will be coming from Detroit by car and will scoop us up. Then we will have her wheels and also her phone which can be used to Make Contact, because ours won't work in the States. thehoyden mentioned possibly doing something for dinner or trying to organize a get-together ( http://cimorene.dreamwidth.org/2738673.html?thread=8600305#cmt8600305 ) although the other people she mentioned are not people we know personally. Want to meet up in the afternoon? Or try for dinnertime? :D

Oh, yes! Yeah, and we both have a slightly softer edge to it too... from the natural waviness I guess. I like it without bangs, though; it shows off your widow's peak that way.

Oooh! I have to work until five, but if you're up for it, it would be totally great to meet up! There are a lot of other fangirls in town that you might already know (shrift, celli, svmadelyn) - maybe we could work out a dinner plan? I don't know what kind of food you might be missing, aside from things that involve avocados.

Both of us know these people by their fandom works but not personally but we'd love to meet them! And I would like even more to meet up with you, since we are acquainted! There is a slight time constraint because of our flight out leaving at 9-something, and the need to make sure we are back and checked in on time, but it should be time to do dinner, at least somewhere not-inaccessible to the airport? And we will have wheels because our pal devon will drive in from Michigan and pick us up when we arrive so we will *also* have a contact phone number. Obviously these wheels will not be associated with any knowledge of Chicago and its environs though...

Okay! Provisionally, dinner at 6, which will allow people who get off work to migrate to the restaurant -- I'll look for a place right off the CTA Blue Line that goes straight to the airport, just in case traffic is dicey and it would be quicker to put you on the train after dinner. I'll do some emailing and look for a suitable restaurant -- anything you miss/particularly in the mood for/would not touch with a ten-foot pole/allergic-to?

Wax doesn't like super-spicy stuff, but I am a fan of Tex Mex. Any grill-type place is fine though. I even like Applebee's and Chili's so I guess I am not very picky. devon is voting for the availability of booze! We will be in her company at that time and I'll PM you with her number for contact!

I have been considering excuses for making the jaunt to Chicago again, and this seems like an excellent one. *g* If lizfu also has the day off, would you mind my dragging my best friend?

No, that'd be awesome! I'd like to meet both of you! Devon is coming to grab us around 2 and after that we will be reachable by her cell # and in the immediate vicinity of the airport, but we're going to meet with thehoyden and some other people for dinner around 6 probably, either one is fine! I'll PM you Devon's number for contact!

I'll be part of the early shift, for sure (I've got a rehearsal back toward the center of things at 6:30). If you send me Devon's number too, I can give a buzz when I'm headed north and intercept you guys wherever you're roosting.
