Have you been keeping up with what's going on in Iran with the international human rights campaign to prevent Sakineh Mohammed Ashtiani, a woman found innocent of her husband's murder years ago, from being stoned to death anyway?

Sakineh Mohammed Ashtiani says that the international outcry over her case is embarrassing officials, so they want to kill her in secret. She had been acquitted of the death of her husband, but now they are saying she was guilty of his murder and should be hanged. The president of Brazil offered her official sanctuary in his country, which does not have the death penalty but Iran turned this down, with officials saying that President Lula was 'humane and emotional' but did not understand the full implications of the case. Meanwhile, her defense attorney is seeking asylum in Norway after his wife was taken into custody and an arrest warrant was issued for him. His wife has since been released.
