We're finally watching Penny Dreadful (the first series still). I was mostly looking forward to Billie Piper and Rory Kinnear, previous favorites, but I've been disappointed with both plots because a) she's not dying fast enough and I find the het romance boring and b) like, I appreciate how he and Victor Frankenstein are both self-obsessed jerks and there's a parallel and, yes, he's more forgivable and relatable even as his savagery and ill-considered actions are more off-putting, just like Mary Shelley said, BUT... they're still both jerks and even being the more sympathetic of two jerks isn't very sympathetic at all. I assume his Men's Rights stance will be poetically punished later, but I'm impatient.
