Robert Oster Summer Storm fountain pen ink in a Pilot Parallel Pen 3.8 mm and a Lamy Safari M on Clairefontaine paper. Also used: a brush and water.
I stumbled on a review of Summer Storm and was extremely taken with it. When I actually tried it it was love instantly, but I’ve had some trouble getting it in the right pen.
This ink is temperamental and can feel dry in the pen, which was a problem in M & F Platinum Preppies and a Lamy Safari F nib. It flowed well in a Hero 616, but the EF nib made the line so thin that it became almost too light to read. It performed beautifully with a Noodler’s Ahab all along, but my Ahab is resting while I figure out if I can realign the nib or not. Fortunately, it’s legible in the Safari M nib, which is broad enough to give some scope for the dramatic shading of which this ink is capable.
