We have hot water! Our two favorite apprentice plumbers were here with an unfamiliar senior or two today and they did some investigation and troubleshooting first which took quite a while, but ultimately resulted in the installation of our replacement boiler! (We can't shower yet because there still isn't a shower curtain rod, in spite of my efforts to remind people last week that we were going to need one sooner rather than later. I also tried to suggest that Wax and I buy one tonight, but her mom seems to want to buy it herself tomorrow. We had already washed ourselves with like 8 liters of water boiled in two electric kettles anyway though.)

We also have clean laundry! There has not been a revolution in the washer department and we did not walk to the harbor after all. Rather,

waxjism, who had told me that laundromats aren't a thing out here in the boonies, suddenly remembered there's a hypermarket (a super-supermarket, which apparently they call a hypermarket in Europe which is hilarious: a supermarket with clothing and house stuff departments, like a super Target or the big size of Wal-Mart) that has a laundromat in Kaarina, which is not that far away, so we went there last night and did 20 bucks of laundry. That only took 2 machines because they have large ones, but we had to hang them carefully to fit them on our three drying racks. I carried two of the racks out into the sun today, but they're not all completely dry yet. However, it's still a tremendous relief.
