6 months of insulin
12 Sep 2019 09:34 amUntil last night, I thought the '20' mark on the insulin pen meant there were 10 doses of 2 (according to the pen's own dosage thingy on the end) left, but it doesn't, because it was at 20 like 2 days ago and last night the insulin ran out. (Actually it would be 5 doses though, because you have to draw some insulin up into the needle and squirt it out to remove any air before you actually give the dose.)
Anyway, possibly I was right and just forgot to include the squirted insulin in my math, or possibly the conversion was wrong, but either way, I was trying to watch the insulin level carefully to ensure I wouldn't run out but I was wrong and we still ran out the night before (and 2 doses before) his checkup today, resulting in waking up early to call the vet when they opened and ask them to phone in a prescription so that he can have a dose of insulin this morning. They did, so that's all good.
Hopefully that's the kind of mistake I only have to make once. He is probably feeling a bit queasy, having missed his last dose, but he hasn't behaved worryingly yet.
