outstanding bills!

There WERE outstanding bills, rather, and now there aren't. My parents got the last check from my maternal grandfather's estate (even though he died several years ago, because he owned multiple random small properties) and they sent most of it to me and my sister. She paid down their debt so their monthly payment is now 200 less. And I paid the remainder of the 11k plumber's bill that surprised us so much before, which means... like... our three FIVE HUNDRED EURO TOILETS are all paid for now, lol. And yes, maybe the cheapest toilet is only a hundred and fifty cheaper than this or something, but I'm still never gonna be over that.

Yeah, about 1/10th of the times that I walk in the bathroom and my eyes land on the toilet I think "That's a five hundred euro toilet!"

Anyway, the plumber and electrician are paid, which means we can now conceivably ask them to do more work, although probably not right at the moment, but in the near future I guess? So maybe at least our washing machine can be hooked up... someday... soon???? Ish???????

OH man that's really good to hear. All of this has been such a mess, getting even some of that mess sorted out is a step forward. You two doing any better?

Yeah, just knowing we were gonna get that money from like... last week or whenever it was before they actually sent it reduced our load of anxiety considerably! Right now we are locked up inside but we are probably better set up to than most other people because we're extremely introverted and prefer to go nowhere in any case, plus we have a ton of stuff we can (should??) do in and around the house.

Of course we can't know exactly what will happen with financing the rest of fixing the house, and the bank, and all that, and we can't know that until the summer cottage has sold, and obviously that is not likely to happen under the current pandemic, so there is still a lot of stuff to wait and see about, but less anxiety is fine.

I honestly relate -- I've been making subtle jokes about how relaxing I find this whole social distancing thing because it takes the pressure off ever needing to go anywhere, and also means my friends are around a lot more to talk to me on Discord and the like. This really shows how fast and exhausting (and expensive) society is to engage with.

I also relate to simply *now* owing a lot of money being relaxing. Loans as a concept freak me out.

Yeah, that has always been our position with loans before. All the loans on top of the mortgage here was very much driven by MIL's confidence that everything would be fine and us being like "She's done this before". She was a very organized, competent, take-charge person.

Yeahhh :( It really sucks when you lose your plan-maker out of nowhere like that. For what it's worth, I think you two have been holding up admirably.

My introversion is strong and even though I know ABOUT extroverts and less introverted people, obviously!!, I find it so hard to empathize with them that I am always having to explicitly remind myself when it's relevant. Since I feel pretty snug and cosy holed up at home I instantly felt a sense of relief and increased security at the idea that as many people as possible would also be simultaneously holed up and snug and cosy in their homes (regardless of how they feel about it, lol). Well, that and relief that the social distancing measures are hopefully decreasing the public health risk.

I'm also honestly just baffled at the "but staying at home is so expensive! Who likes doing it!" when, *god*, going anywhere and doing anything costs *way* more money and is also stressful, requires planning and if something goes wrong is gonna be a nightmare to sort out. Meanwhile if I get lonely I can just expedite order a capture card and start streaming for my friends.

IDK it's just. Weird. This makes me wonder if I'm actually *more* connected and emotionally supported by my friends-away-from-home than most people whose social lives hang by the thread of seeing people face to face.

Right? I didn't even notice anything special about them until I saw the bill. I guess in silhouette the shape is a bit less like a round bowl with a foot - squat brandy glass with very thick stem? - and a bit more like two cones pressed tip-to-tip, but what benefit does that have? Like... none as far as I can tell. Apparently just for looks. If it doesn't change the amount of ceramic in it I don't see that it's very important... it's not even weird-enough looking to notice quickly so it can't even hope for purchases from that class of rich people who want everything to look weird so that it can be art.

It does say on the packaging that it's "rimless". Not sure why that's important but I guess it is. And of course it's water-saving and a Finnish company. That's probably the real reason. The cheaper ones are all from French and Spanish companies, for some incomprehensible reason (and I assume they're all manufactured somewhere with cheap labor because Really, so is France just a source of cheap bathroom DESIGN? and if so that's hilarious).
