The electrician is completely finished with everything. He tested all the circuits, and the wonky light fixture, and he put up the light that had to be screwed directly to the ceiling, and he installed the outdoor lights by the two outside doors, and he even came back with his circuit finder and helped me mark where the wires are behind the kitchen wall so we knew where it was safe to hang shelves. We only learned his name like, three days before he was completely finished, so... oops. He was an extremely nice and diligent young man. I regret that our kitchen was not ready and I wasn't able to offer him baked goods.

The plumber still hasn't reappeared and we're still upset about it. My conviction is growing that everything is actually finished and he simply failed to turn on the water, but perhaps I'll turn out to be wrong about that.

Over the weekend we got almost everything moved into the kitchen - the dishes and pots and pans were already done, but we spent most of Saturday organizing most of the pantry goods, spices, and tupperwares into place. (We refilled and threw out a lot of spices and we donated or trashed a lot of duplicate implements, but the room's still overflowing; and the spices actually are crammed into the pantry cabinet because spice shelves - I'll need at least four - are one of the things we still haven't bought. We need to make a trip to Ikea and Bauhaus - Raisio is now a 30-minute drive from here.) We also unpacked and organized just about everything in the dining room and organized our yarn stash, which used to be stored in two large chests, into the tall glass-fronted barrister case. Then yesterday we spent what feels like several hours sorting and organizing all the tools, which had been jumbled up in four toolboxes and about three large bins.

I spackled the hallway on the other side last week and over the weekend I sanded it all with the power sander, even though the feeling of the random orbital sander in my right hand is highly unpleasant; but I didn't manage to go back there and completely dust and wash the walls because I hate dusting and washing the walls. So it's still not ready for primer.
