cimoreneI've done two days of my new, improved local work practice and it's all been a bit hectic, with the person who was meant to be conducting my introduction and training being out sick, so I'm temporarily just helping out in the garden section. I'm not a huge gardener but I am having fun there, and the person who's been supervising me is very nice. I spent probably more than four hours today watering trays full of little plants that are on 6-for-5 and 3-for-10 sales beside the entryway. It was so intensely sunny that when the sprinkler head came off the hose and sprayed around in a huge arc, the wet splotches on my pants dried inside twenty minutes (a light cotton-poly microfiber twill and my favorite summer trousers, these were purchased on impulse from a clearance sale when I was at the Girl Scout National Convention in 1999 with my troop, aged 16). I have thought how glad I was to be here instead of at my last practice at the furniture store several times. I kind of wish they'd let me loose inside the store to tidy, though. Walking through the clothing and home goods sections makes me twitch to fix them.
Forgot to weigh Tristana this week! And also forgot to call the cat vet for a consultation during their working hours (Wax and I will both be working through the rest of them tomorrow).
The first one here is one of my dad's favorite quotes and I understand it comes from a silver age science fiction short story or novella but I haven't read it myself. Also it might be a paraphrase and not a quote. The second is Sister Michael in Derry Girls admitting that Catholics perhaps do buzz off statues more than protestants. These are all in Diamine Jade Green, which is a touch too light if you're not using it for painting or a highlighter. It does look fantastic in a 6mm-wide italic nib, but for regular use I've adulterated it with a little bit of a darker shade since doing these.
