cimoreneI wanted to try to get a new, longer winter coat in the after-Christmas sales last year because of cumulative frustration that my coat, even though it's purportedly a parka, does not cover my butt well enough to let me sit down on it.
In the process of comparison shopping I found out that said coat (a Lands' End Squall) is actually only rated to like -13° C, which explains why I have to wear three sweaters under it when it's properly cold (like the -20 range).
However, even though in fact long quilted coats seem to be trendy this year, and you'd think that would be a big help, it isn't because my years of experience make me unwilling to buy winter outer garments and outdoor gear from 'fashion' brands. Constricting the search like this still leaves a lot of long quilted coats right now, but most of the brands make them in black only, or black and blue only, and being in the range of sizes that always sell out first, I was unable to find a green one under 200€. (Being green is another requirement. I've learned my lesson from purple and red coats. It's not worth the headaches in hat and scarf clashing.) Two different green ones from Lands' End sold out between when I loaded the page and when I clicked 'check out'. I thought about it but I was still unwilling to buy a black one, a white one, a blue one, or a pink one, so I guess I wait for next winter. Annoying.
