We both concluded we PROBABLY would have remembered though so we thought it hadn't come.
But today (after going to Turku, a round trip lasting a total of 3½ hours, just to be told at the office that actually I hadn't needed to show up in person with any of the papers that I read on their website you had to bring in person) I took the cover off my computer to check if there was an obstruction in the fan (there wans't: it's just making that ungodly racket for reasons of its own apparently). But I found out that there was about a half cup of dust inside my computer case and I spent like an hour trying to get it all out and then it seemed impossible to set it back in place with dust on the shelf, so I dusted the computer shelf and the desk and under the shelf and in the process I cleaned the desk.
And I found the new residence permit card. On my desk, directly in front of me every day as I sat here typing, just sort of shoved to the side of my monitor, not even really under much of anything.
Apparently it arrived like... in December? We don't remember the letter coming or being opened, but when we looked at the card we both remembered having seen it before, so we both were involved in processing it and then we just. Put it down on the nearest table and proceeded to COMPLETELY forget about it.
It is now in the hanging file folder of important documents related to my residence in Finland.
At this point it seems equally likely that [my application for a new residence permit card i]s still processing after 5 months OR that it came and Wax and I both knew about it and did something 'smart' with it and then both forgot.
