3. going crazy over the hyper-active, long haired metalhead who wore nothing but black and played the same little nerd game as his kids,


4. strict eye contact with the ex-basketball player


5. until the long-haired man was ready to tell him


6. The mischevious metalhead ducked under the water,


7. the boy invading his thoughts (nothing new) has been gone a little while


8. he was slightly jealous of the funky man.

"...the funky man." Like, he smells funky? Or he is a funk musician? Or....

He's not a funk musician, no, but I guess as a metalhead he's... counter culture? Non conformist? Not that I'd use "funky" in that way, but it's my best guess here...
