1. the school network is EVIL. to use your webspace and network drives in windows xp pro, you have to create a new personaje--um--identity. login. userid. whatever. within the amherst domain; you can't modify the older logons to that domain. i did this, right? so immediately all my settings have vanished. my documents and pictures are empty (moved to c:/documents and settings/all users/cim'soldidentity/documents), the windows xp UGLY ASS buttons are back, the desktop is something freakish and half my icons and shortcut bars are gone. in ie? my customized toolbars, my favorites. on the start menu, the task bar, the quick launch bar and the system tray? SAME.

i have spent ALL AFTERNOON futzing with this. [livejournal.com profile] kwirbx tried to help; [livejournal.com profile] nemoricultrix tried to sympathize, and then we got sidetracked onto a) [livejournal.com profile] mamahooch's new computer and b) whores, assholes, windows xp, and other lifeforms who should be kicked.

2. [livejournal.com profile] hollsk is my favorite person, easily. sorry to have missed you. ::mwah:: and come baaaaaaaack.

Am I weird for being so totally flattered that I was a topic of conversation? Or at least that my upcoming ownership of a new computer was? And on a fully relevant side note, why do I find the lyrics to "Jessie's Girl" ("... and she's watching him with those eyes/ And she's loving him with that body, I jus'knowit/ And he's holding her in his arms late-late at night...") so oddly compelling?

i get that feeling too. the flattered-ness, i mean. but anne and i often chat about you! so you can be even more flattered. and you can get your new computer and set it up very spiffily and get your ass on im so i can talk to you some more.
