i have just consumed a fair to middling quantitiy of white chocolate--wise, not wise? hmmm. you be the judge.

definitely wise: agreeing to make sugar cookies for the daddy-pie's work tomorrow. or, well, he wanted pumpkin bread, but the specific request was just for 'baking' and cookies are easier and more fun to decorate. so that's that, eh.

EEEEEE TICKETS ARE IN MY HOT LITTLE HAND.

it was beautiful. it did justice to the book, which was far more than could be hoped for (or, well, before seeing fotr anyway). it was a good movie and i loved it. many of the changes that were made were necessary or positive.

a lot of changes were made that weren't, imo, although in many cases the reasoning behind them was evident. i definitely think some mistakes were made in the choice of departures from canon.

some other departures from canon were good.

wtf? list...

-faramir's characterization. buh-bye.
-saruman possessing theoden. nice cinematography, unnecessary drama.
-elrond being an asshole. i see a possible reasoning here but don't agree with it.
-the men from the south. pretty, but i'm not sure i like the 'hi, i'm from the mughal empire, complete with kohl' look considering recent us history and heretofore unfounded wack-job claims of racism in lotr.
-gimli being comic relief maybe two or three too many times.

yay list

-galadriel talking to elrond, and then the elves showing up from both places together instead of aragorn having gone to fetch them. the addition of the elves to helm's deep.
-eowyn, eowyn, EOWYN. they didn't add a lot, granted. still. EOWYN.
-the old friendship evident between aragorn and legolas, even if the chemistry there edges on sexual sometimes which makes me squirm, as i don't approve the pairing. maybe orli and viggo can't help it.
-merry and pippin's added characterization, talking the ents into the war.
-the nice blending of the timelines towards the end, with sam's speech which was just short of cheesy. a nice save from the Faramir Fuck-up, although nothing can completely reconcile me to it.
[edit: because [livejournal.com profile] sinsense reminded me, my earlier, shorter thoughts, a bit, on legolas/aragorn and legolas/gimli can be found here. yes, i saw legolas/gimli, and it made me very happy, and it was visible even through the comic relief stuff. nothing that could not have been taken as friendship, of course. but when you put it together with the secretive looks passing between legolas and aragorn, you get cim having bunnies that she beats away half-heartedly with a stick.]

also, elijah's fingernails are gross in a charming way.
