i haven't really been shopping in months. in the last week i realized i actually needed some things--i don't have enough short-sleeved shirts for an alabama summer, here, because i left a few in massachusetts, and yeah, i knew i was going to be here for the summer but i was crazy, apparently. i don't even remember packing. it's like there's a big black curtain over that part of my memory. so anyway, i only bought three shirts, but it's so strange and weird and wrong, like i was trying to move back in time. the mall is exactly the same as it was when i was in eleventh grade. i don't feel the same urge to shop that i did then, luckily. it was fun, but i did it for under an hour and a half, and that was enough to make me sick of it. and, in some kind of brilliant stroke of adaptation for the survival of the species or something, i've become very reluctant to spend money. cautious! tight-fisted, even. my favorite aunt would be so proud. and speaking of my favorite aunt... meh. i'd like to see ~~my family~~ her.
