cimorene: The words "I've never seen anything like that before" hand lettered in medieval-reminiscent style (wow)
This isn't what happened when we bought the shelves for our kitchen... instead we put them up even though they are designed so it is basically impossible to put in one of the screws. But we will NEVER buy another object that needs, apparently, an around-the-corner screwdriver again.

We also emptied a bookshelf yesterday and found this tiny notebook down the side of an apple crate full of photographs:

MIKEY WAY MAKES HIS SECRET NIGHTLY PILGRIMAGE is on the first page, and it's the only thing in the notebook. It's my drawing, but there's no signature or date, either. No clue what was behind this.

I still am friends with most of the people I bonded with in bandom and I still am in regular contact with ... quite a few of them, so I’m amused that fandom failed to notify me when Fall Out Boy’s new album finally dropped (like I knew about the singles, sure, but I was getting pretty impatient to buy the album).

Anyway, I finally noticed less than a week ago that it was out and bought it and I’ve now listened to it about six times and also rewatched the videos in order to get a better grip on the wack imagery that’s going on this time. A few points:

  • I wonder if anyone has asked Pete Wentz “Why llamas?”

  • Nobody puts Patrick in a neon purple coffin!!

  • Every now and then I remember the album was delayed and then there was briefly a confusion because it came out with two different tracklists because SOMEONE changed the official track order at the last minute after repeatedly delaying the album to lock himself in the studio and tinker. Probably the same tiny, angry, ginger musical genius who once punched Pete Wentz in an argument about lyrics. Anyway, I remember this and start laughing literally out loud again because I love Patrick, that angry angel-voiced little musicomaniac.

  • Pete Wentz and his brilliant lyrics are often alarming but I think “I want to sleep on every bit of fuzz and stuffing that comes out of you” is the most alarming yet. I’m kinkshaming.

  • My favorite part about these videos, aside from Jaden Smith’s cameos lol, is the faces Andy is making whenever the camera rests on him, which usually is a bit like Where’s Waldo, kind of, “I’m just here and all this Meaningful Wack Symbolism is definitely happening around me right now”. Exception: In “Wilson” when he’s really getting into his facial gymnastics for the infomercial.

  • If you’d asked me in 2007 I’d never have guessed that MCR would like, release basically 1 more album and disappear (though perhaps they’re doing something again sometime, idk, there was a rumor?) while Fall Out Boy would continue to regularly put out albums and basically stay in my top 3 favorite artists from Infinity on High right through to now (and Folie a Deux is still my fav).

We were awakened by the postlady this morning with this package! I took a video, but it was long and embarrassing, so then I just made caps of it. It's less painful for everyone this way.

After watching "Na Na Na" (the preview video) 20 times, "Na Na Na" (the lyrics video) 10 times, and "Na Na Na" (the official video) only 6 or 8 times yet but I plan to make it about 100, I'm getting increasingly excited for the new MCR album. (I've spent the last 3 weeks rereading first [personal profile] bexless's Frank/Gerard fic, then all my bookmarks, then all of mine, then wading through delicious Popular and Recent tags.)

Also hoping and expecting that the new upkick in band activity will lead to a resurgence of MCR fandom, since I keep seeing everyone echoing the same renewed excitement everywhere. I know there's that one Dreamwidth community that is for Killjoys-specific news items, but what about more traditional fan-stuff? Is there a Dreamwidth center for MCR or just bandom fanworks or whatever, the equivalent of [livejournal.com profile] bandslashmania? (Ideally MCR-only, from my point of view. But I'll take what's there.) (Actually, what I'd like ideally is one where people make and share tons of screencaps and gifs in the comments and then squee about them, like the Tommy/Adam community [personal profile] waxjism follows on livejournal, because there really aren't enough MCR gifs.) I mean, I know there are the old communities on livejournal, but I like to move my community interaction to DW where possible. It's just a bonus usually that the traffic is less over here because I don't have the attention span for high-traffic communities or newsletters, really.

Basically... what should I be following? (I lost interest in bandom quite a while before I moved to DW and most of the people I talked to about it over there aren't here, but I figure it's not outside the realm of possibility that someone who happens to have the right information is out there.)
