i didn't realize it, but the chronology of sherlock holmes's cases and watson's life is a matter of no little debate.

well, that means i'm freer to make stuff up, doesn't it?

heh heh.

Your local library (yes, your LIBRARY!) should have massive published Holmes wank dating back to at least the 50s. If not, I can get you a reading list of solidly entertaining amusement.

My brother joined an SF-are chapter of the Irregulars a few years ago, and was asked to present a paper on Holmes' greatest enemy.

"Who do you think it should be?" he asked me.
"Dude, Conan Doyle!"
"Oh. Yeah!"
I don't know if he presented it, or how it was received. He never answers when I ask. ;)

i saw some wank already where [livejournal.com profile] kemelios linked to two different chronologies which disagreed with each other. one of them had quite a wankful disclaimer.

i've come to Enlightenment, i.e., conan doyle didn't give a rat's ass about the chronology, so it's full of indicators which would allow anyone to interpret it any way they want to. thanks to that, i'm going to put the most strikingly slashy adventures after the Return and assume holmes to have been speaking metaphorically when he referred to watson's second wife (i think watson has adopted a n injured puppy, which he's keeping at his practice).

I like My Dearest Holmes, in which Watson and Mary Morstan hitched because (a) they liked each other bunches, and (b) wanted beards.
