i'm so hungry my stomach hurts. it's a middle of the night hurt. yeah, my stomach thinks it's the middle of the night because i went to be seven hours ago. well, or because it's dark out and i'm under-rested. stomach, i promise to treat you to something bland and restful later today.
gray skies, cold fine rine, and perry's curled up under my outstretched legs in the tent made where the blanket falls over them. i thought i'd read some more stargate and beta k'sal's essay again but too tired. she inspires me, really, although her scrupulously thorough 'a logical look at amok time' gives me more the urge for a sort of cynical fun-poking review. probably never to sit down and seriously work out, though.
you can't blame people for being fascinated with the whole telepathic!love thing. and, hey, telepathic!sex (which is called 'bonded sex' euphemistically more often than not...)! well. no complaints here. except for the 80% of the time when it's badly written. that's a rant for another day

Date: 27 Jun 2003 11:10 am (UTC)Can you rec me some of the other 20% of the time? Because oh yeah, with the telepaths and the sex. Gah. Plus am trying to write it into And Not To Yield and it is mightily difficult some days. *sigh*
Re:
Date: 27 Jun 2003 11:34 am (UTC)let me think. i mean, the theme is almost synonymous with k/s so it's hard to remember which ideas are from which stories.
of mine, unintended (http://www.rightthisway.net/cimorene/trek/unintended.html) is bonding-themed and has several melded scenes and two scenes of telepathic sex, but what i am to you (http://www.rightthisway.net/cimorene/trek/whatiam.html) has one too.
of other people's, i'd say probably every heavily rated story of greywolf's has a bonded sex scene (and you don't have to venture into the den of loathsomeness that is kardasi.com because they're all on trekiverse.org). the one in 'morning dew' and the one in 'and in darkness bind you' are probably my favorites and thus they're the ones actually on my recs page (http://www.rightthisway.net/cimorene/recs.html#trek). killashandra's are--well, i can't call them bad but i can't call them good--extremely over-written, shall we say, but pretty nonetheless. varoneeka's wanting (http://members.tripod.com/~Varoneeka/wanting.htm) is a little mischaracterized and the meld's glossed over in the, er, heat of the moment, but not unbelievably. anyway, it's hot and angsty, maybe a little plotless, but i rather like it. jat sapphire's award-winning still amok (http://www.geocities.com/jat_sapphire/ST_stories/stillamok.htm) follows 'amok time' and is beautifully done. full of telepathy, and spock's all dazed. (the happy ending comes in the sequel, coals of fire (http://www.geocities.com/jat_sapphire/ST_stories/coalsp.htm).)
