i got nominated for another nsync HET award.

dude, it's been a year and a half since i finished the badficnovelofdoom and i haven't touched it with a ten foot pole since then. so, uh. what gives? >.> their links are in tiny pale green verdana and a pain to read, but there's something refreshing about a neon fuschia and hot orange palm tree layout. ahhhhhhh, nsync het! fandom composed entirely of mary sues!

gee. thanks.

*shakes head* now that's a part of my life that I'd like to erase. Le sigh.

Although, slash can be just as bad, sometimes even worse. I remember when slash first started (that's how fucking long ago I was a member of that crap - I started in 1998. How sad)... it was very different - the authors were good because there were only a few of them writing it and they were pretty talented. Now everyone and their uncle writes slash and most of it is god awful. It's turned into a "cool", "popular" thing to do. Lord.

i don't know--when i started reading nsync slash in, hm, 2000, i had a hard time finding any that was really good. not that it was godawful, and there weren't so many people producing the kind of utter dreck that there is now, but there wasn't a lot that was really fabulous either. there were just a few authors i wanted to read.

My one het story still gets nommed for stuff back in Buffy fandom, too. And I wrote that in, like, 1999. Last century! And as it was my very first story EVAH, you can only *imagine* what it's like. Or don't, please. Of course, if I didn't keep it on my site, no one would read it and weep. My own fault, I'm sure.

that's the willow/xander, isn't it? i've read it. ;) it's not nearly as far-off from what you write now as aygbt is from what i write. i wasn't setting out, like, 'what would i like to write?' it was like, i'd read this fandom which i realized was bad, and i was like, 'i can do that.' and i made the protagonist, well, a little dumb, and the writing talks down a little--to fit in with that genre. that's not even the source of all the badness, though, cause i sucked back then and it really is BAD.

Willow/Oz, man, Willow/Oz. But yeah. My incentive was, "What the shit is this? I can totally write better than this!" and then I tried.

what, it was better, wasn't it? mine was better than what i'd read in that fandom, but the thing is that the whole fandom is horrid drivel.
