Isn't it Celine Dion? It irritates me.

i don't know, i never hear beyond that line. (although [livejournal.com profile] nemoricultrix says yes.

it's REALLY bad music they play at our store, in general, but i'd kinda like to hear the whole thing and get that one hook out of my head. today was high school flashback day. we got 'mm bop' by hanson, 'back here baby' by bb mak and quite a lot of other poor second rate pop... not to mention 'opposites attract' by, um... eighties, not high school... paula abdul. ::shudder::

In that case you might dis-own me if I told you that I used to LOVE Hanson, I've always loved Paula Abdul, and I absolutely ADORE Celine's voice... but I'm going to tell you anyway. And would ya look at that? I just did.

i knew both of the first things. but don't worry, i won't disown you. i remember when you wrote taylor hanson one letter a week. and i like celine's VOICE just fine. and i do like paula abdul, but i'm more of a 'forever your girl' girl. i can't stand 'opposites attract'; it's too cutesy and i don't like the male vocalist.

It's Celine Dion covering a Cyndi Lauper song.

*looks around*
(Shh, dirty little secret time, I like Celine Dion so I'd be happy to put a copy up if you need to get it out of your head. I also have the Cyndi Lauper version, although since her voice isn't as strong the Celine verion works a bit better.)

i despise celine dion in principle but i shamefully enjoy singing along to her. a lot.

But wasn't it originally, in fact, a Roy Orbison song?

Orbison

Roy Orbison! He looks like one of the Blues Brothers. No, correction. The Blues Brothers look kind of like Roy Orbison. I love me some Roy. He's not horrible at all. Also, he's dead.

Songs you might recognise: Oh, Pretty Woman, Only The Lonely (hee, both are now film titles, and the films, I think, feature the songs), You Got It (later covered by The Pretenders. Or Chrissie Hynde, either or), In Dreams.

And he was in The Travelling Wilburys with George Harrison. Roy was cool even though he had a wobbly high-pitched voice.
