catholic church considers firing employees who marry their same-sex partners (in mass, where it is newly legal).  warning:  this will piss you off.  gacked from [livejournal.com profile] ninglor.

oh, well, maybe you don't remember cause you were nuts at the time. i'm thinking it was last summer, y'know, when you became a born again christian? or maybe it was the christmas before that or something? and you were saying all kinds of really earnest things about feeling god.

Yeah, I remember, actually. Because after the earnestness, well, I was still earnest, but I was all "Darn, Cim, I was crazy" and you were all "Damn straight, you were scary" and I was all "yeah"

you are crazy on and off in varying degrees of craziness, but never really scary like OMGSHE'SGONNAHURTME, more like... OMGSHE'SACHRISTIAN? or OMGSHE'SRILLYPARANOID.

well, okay, THAT is scary.

when do you start converting your ancestors? what exactly is the inside scoop on those golden tablets saying y'all were the new chosen people that one of your grand high dukes or whatsit lost before he could show to anybody, but everyone in Mormonland still believes him anyway?

I cannae convert mui ancestors becuase they're daed! I heard that some of the tablets (found by Joseph Smith) are actually at Temple at BYU. He (Joseph; I personally prefer Brigham Young) actually translated a lot of the plates so that they form the Book of Mormon, which Mormons give out like Gideons house motels with the New Testament.

It *is* scary. It's so different, and jumping from hardcore Catholicism (which I learn in May, taking the sacraments again after not doing them since I was sixteen, and deciding not to get confirmed) to hardcore Mormonism is like trading the soulful yellow light of a candle for a white comet.

yeah yeah, i know they were 'translated' to the book of mormon. as for them being in temple, they may well be, but no one has ever produced any proof that they actually exist... strangely enough.

reading it properly is definitely based on a feeling. i learnt at missionary lessons that after baptism, they put their hands on you to bind you to the Holy Ghost. as a now-good catholic, i know it flits about a lot. i am almost sure that if there were a universalist church nearby, i would have gone there to investigate. as is, i'm turning into a proper mormon minus some secret vices, such as smoking occasionally, a liberally uber-libertarian view on drugs, being pro-choice much like yourself, and also (gasp!) not saving my chastity for a husband. i really wish you were online on AIM sometimes because i would've rattled on about that (losing it). sometimes i wish we were neighbors so we could do shit (ha! and the potty mouth; a definite minus :nods:) like watch "Saved!" together.
