when did everybody start not only caring about baseball but posting about it regularly?  is this some kind of alternate universe where i'm a sports fan, or a mainstream person, and not a slasher?

Well, in the case of Boston, it's more of a city pride thing than anything else. Also that whole nasty Curse business, and finally having a chance at seeing it broken.

I grew up a Pirates fan, but they've sucked ever since the strike back in '93 or '94, whenever it was.

if you're from anywhere near boston, you have no choice. i don't know what it is. i'm not a sports fan in any way usually. but when the sox are doing well, especially when they're playing the yankees... something just happens. suddenly i care. a lot.

nope, i know you like hockey and i love you enough to read no matter what you write, but i don't want to see baseball all the time. and it's annoying because usually i don't see it. so this is unexpected and like... i feel like, i didn't sign up for this when i friended them! of course it's THEIR journals. all i can do is unfriend them, cause of course they are supposed to write about what interests them.
