osama made a video saying w was an asshat, and causing people to think they should therefore vote for him?

i don't know whether to be glad i don't watch the news or puzzled that nobody's mentioned it.

Ahh... there was a video and in it he basically said that neither Bush nor Kerry could protect the US it was a matter of US policy. Here's the transcript (http://www.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/meast/10/29/bin.laden.transcript/index.html).

The initial reaction all around was confusion. The entire point of the message was to comment on the US election - there are no threats, no promises of X if Y, nothing. I think it's generally being said to be slightly pro-Kerry because he directly attacks how Bush responded on the morning of Sept. 11th.

All in all it's very surreal, it took both campaigns about 24 hours to do more than just acknowledge its existence. Perfect time to use the awesome blue wardrobe icon of doom :)
