getting tired of 'don't leave!  don't give up!  it's time to keep fighting!' keep fighting.  have fun.  don't forget to take coffee breaks, if you can afford them.  my advice is to avoid putting liberal bumper stickers on your car, especially in certain regions, because your job probably isn't that secure and you may need your car. 

america is not my child nor my grandmother.  i don't have an obligation to take care of it when it's sick, to love it even if it's a homophobe, to keep trying to change its mind because deep down everyone is good.  i don't have any obligations to america.  i don't "belong" to it (or any part of it, like its population) or vice-versa.  it is not part of me.  it is not a close associate of mine.  this is not the unforeseen end of a long, tortured, but ultimately important relationship.  it's just a place i have always been unhappy about living in.  all the things i have ever loved about it have had nothing whatsoever to do with its population.  the things i loved are all like "azaleas" and "the weather in __ when __" and "black walnut trees." 

i'll be glad, i think, when the philosophical posts die down.

start struggling to get out. don't waste the energy produced by your anger, mira. you're educated. there's all kinds of places you could go.

lots of places where you could teach english, if not work in your field. there are programs in china, japan, russia, i think, where all you need is to be a native speaker. of course they are of limited duration but... .

Mnrf. It's getting to the point where I'm glad I'm too tired to snark, otherwise I'd be off replying to ever post on friendsfriends picking fights with people I don't know and that's just bad karma.
