when i came to finland in august i brought two suitcases, and the menorah and candles were large, heavy and awkwardly shaped, so i didn't bring them.
the first night of channukah is december seventh (two days before my birthday. hunh).
we tried the synagogue, but it's a veritable fortress with no hours of operation and a lot of padlocks, and furthermore, there was no one there early on friday evening, which is, i thought, when they were supposed to have services. or wait--is that saturday? anyway, buying candles when i didn't have my menorah would be a bit odd, and wax vetoed the modeling clay idea. we bought a column of eight rainbow tea-light holders at stockmann, and yes, i am really going to use tea lights.
i want to make my mom's pear salsa and orange chicken to eat with challah and latkes--i need to get the recipe. and some chocolate, though you can't get gelt.
wax, what's the mece's email again?
