was fooling about in photoshop.  came up with a mac-danny wallpaper (from a "tanglewood" cap) that sort of looks like they've been attacked by both a radioactive lava lamp, and that charles somebody modern artist who paints giant portraits all laid out in grids.

no, i mean... current. and his name is definitely charles. and he actually does nothing but paintings that he uses a grid for. he superimposes grids of various sizes over his source images and then he blows them up by painting each square a different color (or combination of colors, like a circle or half-circle inside the square). my mother's a fan of his. i saw a giant exhibit of his at the moma in dc.
