Well, since my children are far beyond hypothetical, I don't really oppose to them eating stuff from the outside of packages. But I wouldn't eat anything that's been poked and fondled by a germy kid. Even if only on the outside of the package. Ewwwwww.

well, the danger is more the kid's, because people who have been handling raw meat handle the packages. a kid died of e. coli in canada from eating the ice scraped off a package of hamburger.
