i updated firefox to 1.0.4 and now quicknote (among other things) doesn't work! i may have to go back to 1.0.2.  i had important notes in there, yo.  and now i can't figure out how to get it open and get my notes out.

quicknotes stores the notes in text files called by default quicknotes.txt in the documents & settings / windows account name / application data / mozilla / profiles / etc etc weird name made out of digits and shit / chrome / directory.
also, there's probably a quicknote version that fits your version of FF. :)

thank you. i knew you'd know where they were. :) and i already updated it, or rather firefox did automatically when it updated itself. it's the lastest version and it says it works with 1.0+, but mozilla must be ahead of it or something cause... it just won't open. the button vanished and it won't let me put it back in the toolbar. it's not in the sidebar options. hopefully it'll catch up soon. :/

I've been posting desperate, unanswerable pleas and rants re. 1.0.4. for weeks now. I sadly didn't have 1.0.2. anymore and the 3 version was just as bad - for me, the slash and accents do not work because they are hardcoded to be a search function and I can no longer search inside LJ text entries either. But not always or all the time! Sometimes the arrow keys do not work either, i.e. in your LJ here *sigh* Downloading (i.e. saving pics) became slow and then no longer worked. No amount of googling, asking, uninstalling and mailing to their feedback helped. Grrrr argh.

i think .2 might still be downloadable. when i was googling something else--i don't remember, maybe "upgrade firefox" or something?--a page popped up for it (but i didn't click because i didn't know .4 was evil). slashes and accents are still working for me--that's weird; maybe it has to do with my keyboard, or do you have a non-english version of firefox?--but several times the program has just completely refused to start, and i've had to restart the computer to get it to.

When I updated/downloaded the time before last, I also saw older version. Now they are all gone.
And the phenomenon of ' or / doing the same as ctrl+f is completely random. Now for example it was no problem *headdesk*

i actually was having a similar problem with the old version. sometimes randomly i'd be typing along in a text field in the browser and it'd switch to a "find in page" function. got really annoying.

also, damn. i was considering going back to the older version, too.

You did, wow, finally someone has the same problem. Which version was that then? I think it was from 3 on :S

The one thing I love about my new verions 4, mach b or something is that it opens the tabs behind my active one, so I don't have to keep clicking back. The question is if that's worth the non-searchable LJ posts (my posts are long and complicated). I can live with the random search function glitches by now *long suffering sigh*

i never know you could search posts with it. or rather, i heard of it once, and when i went back to search for the extension, i ended up with something i wasn't able to figure out how to open and... okay, now i look down and the toolbar has suddenly just appeared above the status bar and i KNOW it wasn't there a minute ago... o.0. talk about random. um. but at least, until thirty seconds ago, it only popped up when i DIDN'T want it, and it would vanish when i tried to click on it, so it was pretty much worse than useless.

however, it's still opening new tabs in the foreground even though i've set it to put them in the background. i wonder if that's the fault of the tabbrowser extensions plugin, though.

? No extension. I meant that if you press ctrl+f in the new versions, you cannot search a post you are currently editing, nor some tables in other pages, it does not recognise the words there. I have no extensions anymore. I had launchy and then I had download manager because nothing dl-ed but now, clean slate. If possible.

no, i got that that was what you meant. but i didn't know that firefox had a built-in find function until you mentioned it. the particular problem, which was with the find-in-page extension, seems to be over with, thank god.

there are a lot of extensions i like, and some i thought i couldn't live without--unfortunately one of those is quicknote, which isn't up-to-date with the current release of firefox yet.
