secret message to
hollsk and
isilya: i'm very sorry about not returning from my absence, but company showed up abruptly to watch movies.
the movie-watching today was sort of like delayed birthday festivities, because a birthday isn't really a proper one without both a family dinner and having some people over. chi and sugar and i watched a dangerous man and meantime and drank glögg without any rum and ate not entirely politically correct candy1 and discussed postmodernism and sociology a bit.
speaking of that i have some presents for you, dearfriendslist everyone (not locking the post). first, more low-quality home videos of my pets:
chi holding lily [narrated by cim, guest appearances by perry and tea] [avi], right click save, ≈2,6 mb. there are instances of me talking for the pets in a squeaky voice. i totally got this habit from wax.
and i also have two galleries of screencaps.
meantime (1984), starring tim roth and gary oldman (these are the same caps i posted last spring when i first got the movie, but they weren't ever in lj gallery form). 270 caps.
a dangerous man (1990), starring ralph fiennes (in his screen debut!) and siddig el fadil (of ds9). (this was even slashier than i remembered, and it's only been a couple of weeks since i watched it. also, i need to make more caps of certain scenes, but that's not going to happen today.) 321 caps.
loving looks at their first reunion after years of separation:

frolicking in a field:

lawrence writing poetry about feisal (no... really):
(no... really)

"i signed up for sonnets100."

"i'm going to write 100 poems about feisal!"*
*okay, captions: not really. but the poetry, yes. i swear on tim/gary slash.
meaningful cigarette-lighting:

the wedding (no, sorry. not really):

"with this scroll of paper i thee wed."

an angsty hug:

from the last scene:

1. they're like flavoured poofy marshmallows covered in chocolate, big ones, and until recently they were called (in finnish) "nigger kisses". uh... huh. so they had to change the title but the box still features some cartoony black characters, mostly naked, with a bongo drum and gold jewelry, kissing.

Date: 17 Dec 2005 01:58 am (UTC)Fortunately I don't have to talk much about them in day-to-day conversation.
Also, it's not so much 'nigger balls' as 'negro balls' -- I mean, it's archaic and offensive but not deliberately so, you know?

Date: 17 Dec 2005 11:54 am (UTC)they're really both incredibly good in this movie. there's so so so so much facial acting and eyefucking, and i had to leave some of the slashiest scenes out of the sample caps because without a ton of explaining the plot the significance wouldn't have been apparent. but basically, i love reallyreally good eyefucking actors who create tense sexual vibes together oh, so much.
