my new plan to ensure that i have time to study vocabulary for my finnish test a week from today (given i have a 10-page paper to write by this friday) is that i am allowed to write small amounts of fic but not to do any recreational reading, not even of the print paperback i keep around for when i can't reach the computer, until the essay is written.

starting right after this one story¹...

also. for years i have been plagued with the medium-bad acne that runs in my dad's family, and been kind of lazy and not done a whole lot about it. but i finally got serious and at isilya's encouragement started this, which is extremely simple but has added upwards of 30 minutes to my morning routine, unfortunately. i am afraid i'm going to have to start getting up an hour earlier to have time for skin care + walking the dog. that sucks, because hello, i already wake up at six. *mope*

i wasn't going to watch it when i started! but i was gradually seduced and then i was going to wait until i had a bunch of free time to kill with it but i could tell from jo's description that "it's a date" was the best thing ever, in life, AND IT WAS.

oh my god! that fic is brilliant! why was it just in your memories! why haven't you posted raving about it?

I was going to add it to my recs list yesterday morning but then I saw she'd taken it down and was all, WHAT. So then I didn't. But then she put it back up and so I then added it to my recs, where it rightfully belongs!

The main reason I don't rave about it more is because I don't want to spoil people for Germany. :(( I'm so paranoid about spoiling people cause there are so many rampant series spoilers in TezuRyo fic I'm afraid I won't be able to keep them all straight and someone will accidentally be spoiled for something because of a rec and I'll feel awful!

:-? I'd been planning to make this huge recs post of my favorite tenipuri fics all last fall and it was on the list but i never wound up making the post. But it's there now and I'm really glad because it's an amazing, funny, wonderful fic. I wish more people wrote tenipuri universe like that. :((

in that case, you are forgiven. i understand wanting people to get the full impact of canon by absorbing it the right way.

when you talk about spoiling people for germany, do you mean the mere fact that tezuka goes to germany (=they become stronger without him. and go to nationals without him)? or is there some secret depth to germany that i have somehow miraculously remained unspoiled for through all my fic reading? (ryoma doesn't CANONICALLY steal nanjiroh's credit card and visit tezuka there, does he?)




also: i keep commenting on all of your pot posts even though i have nothing much to say and it's kind of like spam, but i just have to because i haven't friended anybody else who posts about it.

sadkjf;klsdajld I LOVE that you comment on them all. It delights me. Apparently there's this backlash in HP fandom going on because of all the Tenipuri invading everyone's friends lists and I'm completely oblivious to it because I feel like I'm surrounded by supportive enablers everywhere. *_*

Well, it's mainly that he goes to Germany and the reason *why* he goes to Germany (which I assume you know). HOWEVER. *SPOILS YOU*

They do visit him at one point, and, like. Before they get off Momo's like "Don't cry when you see Tezuka, Echizen." !!!!!!!!! And then they get off the bus and Ryoma halts in mid-step and Tezuka is there and the two of them just stare at each other like he's the only one who came to visit. And then!!!!! Ryoma gets on the bus and he murmurs, "Buchou.... see you later" - in this really sultry low-voiced little oh-my-god-there's-no-way-they-didn't-spend-those-two-days-making-out-every-chance-they-got way and. I swear there is NO WAY you can watch this series and not think the creators see them as the great love of each other's lives. *babbles*

HAHAHAH I'm so glad you brought this up because yes, that was totally the reason why i wrote this story, because I believe in the anime Ryoma does steal his dad's credit card, right, to visit Tezuka? it's how they get there? I just remember everyone going "Ryoma is such a delinquint" and all I could think was "adflkjas;dgja;gkj he's totally done it before."

i've got the reason. he deliberately injured his shoulder because he just had to push himself extra-hard for that date romantic tennis match with ryoma, right? to prove a point/teach him something/help him grow etc.

okay. and. !!!! they do? he DOES? omg. he's such a knowing little flirt! they. but he doesn't cry, i take it.

Ahahahaha. You're close. He deliberately risks his shoulder in order to play Ryoma on their first date. He injures his shoulder, not quite as a direct result, but later. More dramatically. You'll see. It is The Reason why I love Tezuka so hard. :((

AND YES. THEY STARE AT EACH OTHER LIKE THEY ARE THE ONLY TWO PEOPLE ON EARTH.

It's like this. Bus pulls up, and we hear the voiceover:
"Hey, hey, Echizen, don't cry when you see Buchou."
*mutter* "I'm not going to cry."
The others get off the bus. Ryoma follows and is still on the bus steps when he stops and freezes and stares. Momo bumps into him from behind and is like, 'hey, Echizen, move' but Ryoma is frozen where he stands. TEZUKA IS THERE. LOOKING AT HIM. And then we see the others who are also staring, but Tezuka is looking only at Ryoma. God. ls;adjflkdsj.

And actually, they do almost an exact repeat of this pattern when Tezuka comes back from Germany. Momo, Eiji, Ryoma are standing around training camp. Tezuka appears. They freak out. Momo grabs Ryoma around the neck and, like, pinches him - which could be read as Momo pinching him to make sure they aren't dreaming, and could also be read as Momo being like, "YOU'RE BOYFRIEND'S BACK." Ryoma's like *grumble* "what are you doing?" but then he (and the others) run up to Tezuka.

And then asdkjf. I wish I were home so I could screen-cap this for you.

Momo and Eiji are standing next to Tezuka, behind Ryoma, and they're all saying stuff about how Tezuka's back, good to see him, blah blah blah - I don't even know and I seriously doubt Tezuka does either because he and Ryoma are STARING AT EACH OTHER AGAIN. Tezuka's not even looking at Momo and Eiji, he's just smiling down at Echizen who's smiling up at him.

And then Tezuka and Ryoma proceed to stalk each other and obsess over each other for the remainder of the training camp, and we have the Jealous Boyfriend Arc of Love. *_*

ALSO. How much have you seen?! Are you watching in order? I'm hard-pressed to say that It's A Date is THE greatest Tenipuri Ep ever (god, how could you even pick) but it's probably in everybody's top 3. And sajdlkfd the Chibi eps are whole other levels of crack that you didn't think they'd even invented yet.

i read about the chibi eps in your guide to tenipuri. i have to say... next to japanese people, we are all just amateurs at crack. even tinhats have a long ways to go. harmonians look staid.
