well, we had an interesting moment or two when we believed my car had been stolen. our driveway is L-shaped, curving around the house, with the short leg running along the street. dad pulled the car around there last night without telling anyone. this morning i assumed daddy had taken it to work with him and asked mom. she went outside and came back in and said, 'either he took it or it was stolen!'

--so i drove her van all the way to b&d's and all the way back, actually driving right by the car. when i was there i called dad at work, and he told me where he'd put it. he said, 'or i guess, if it wasn't there... it was stolen.'

'well,' i said doubtfully, 'we were going to have to replace it soon anyway.'

'but it still ran well, and as long as a car runs well it isn't cost-effective to replace it,' he argued.

then i came home and the suspense was ended, because there it was.

cimorene: painting of a glowering woman pouring a thin stream of glowing green liquid from an enormous bowl (misanthropy)
to whom it may concern:

when i am drowning in credit card debt, you'll be the first to know. the splashy water sound effects will have done absolutely NOTHING to contribute to that situation.

thank you.

my little sister thinks she is cute, but she is sadly mistaken.

got a plumber. 2nd try. is coming today. am giddy. GO ME!

must go shopping, but maybe tomorrow? $50 cash for kitty litter. heh. oookay.

encountered little old geezer in the wrong lane, wanting to turn left but in not the left turn lane but the lane to its left, namely, the one for people going in the opposite direction. if he's too blind to see the double yellow lines, should he be driving? had to accelerate quickly to get around--have never seen driving so incompetent before. do they do it like this in florida?

may kiss plumber when he arrives if i have not yet discovered anyone else to kiss. considered and discounted the cat. suspect he needs a bath.

thanks to the stupid screwed up time on this power mac, this is my third attempt to post this entry, and i have had to write it over again each time. if you're annoyed by lack of pronouns, well, hey, what do you expect?

it smells very funny in here. o.O O.o am suspicious. slate is suspicious too. he keeps meowing piteously. surely this is about the smell and not about getting petted.

argh. stupid smell.

[livejournal.com profile] girlinthetree is an evil mastermind, a twisted genius, a dastardly mistress of, um, subterfuge. yes. her plans for world domination (or actually, a combination fake car theft and kidnapping).
cimorene: cartoony drawing of a woman's head in profile giving dubious side-eye (Default)
me: ahah! plumber on his way! MUAHAHAHAHA!
[livejournal.com profile] girlinthetree: eeeeexcellent.

hurray for capturing plumbers!

so the plumber came and went. leak is in wall. he's sending the big! boss!plumber tomorrow morning to look. i'm going to be here alllll day. meanwhile the water is back on. life is good. ish. well, yeah, good. slate is cuddling me and all, so yes. good.

i've cleverly placed the envelope containing tickets behind my computer on my desk, propped up against the wall. thus it's mostly out of sight, but every now and then the corner catches my eye and i sit up straight and manfully stifle the urge to squee. abjectly, i'm sure. abjectly gleeful, right? why not abjectly delighted as well? i'm surprised it's still so novel after a few days, though. i may be all squee-ed out by the time i leave. then again, probably not.

and i got this fantastic music from [livejournal.com profile] ninglor, proving that there are many more reasons to love her than hobbit smut.

so the plan is to go see dark crystal tonight at an amphitheater. right now i'm dying of hunger. i saw [livejournal.com profile] orangeblossomb had an icon of it, i'm pretty sure, but maybe no more. reportedly this is the only fantasy movie ever made entirely with muppets. so i'm going, yeah. a review will be forthcoming eventually.

i still itch all over. the movie started nearly half an hour late and the grass hadn't been mowed for a few months. the sound was fully functional. if we'd wanted to sit across the field and the parking lot upstairs in the building there and watch through the window, we'd have had no problem hearing, although i understand that as it was my mother wasn't able to see very well. which was a damned shame, because the art is by brian froud, for the most part, and definitely the most worthwhile part of the movie. i have to admit to a certain fondness for kira.

maybe i'll feel better up to an actual review by tomorrow, when i'm plumber-wrestling. right now i'm still sort of a seething mass of irritation. and my face itches, not to mention my neck and my legs and my arms and shoulders. it's psychological, i'm pretty sure. but it's still itchy. and oh!

this just in. --star trek ii: the wrath of khan was on tv and i got in there just in time for spock's death, otherwise known as The Second Slashiest Scene in All of Trek. ahhhhhhhhh, yes. jim and spock. SOinlove. ::wallows::

there's nothing like a otp to revive one's spirits. oh, they're so so sweet! squee.

[livejournal.com profile] carraway54 wanted to know what everyone's first record was. now, that was interesting. i mean, if you're talking only about the first i bought with my own money, then it was probably the first nsync album. so here, i thought of a quiz to make.

the cd (or tape or record, whatever) you still have that you've owned the longest (this counts gifts, not just what you bought with your own money), and how long you've had it: queen's news of the world. i've had it since 8th grade (so that makes it 5).

book (here i'm only counting ones that i still want. of course we have baby books, but i consider them my parents'; and we have children's books that i'll want when i have kids, but not until then): patricia wrede's dealing with dragons (13--since first grade).

movie: the phantom tollbooth (at least 12--since before i was 7). i'm not even sure how long we've had it.

article of clothing: my favorite t-shirt, which i now wear as a baby tee, was still big on me when my dad bought it. have had it since i was five. yes, i still wear it. a lot. that makes it... 14.

toy: i sleep with paddington bear, and he was a birth present from my great aunt and uncle. so 19.

friend (not counting relatives or family friends): [livejournal.com profile] guinevere33, i think. if you want to get technical, i actually met sara first, but we weren't friends for several more years. that would be from sixth grade, so seven years.

Expandin case anyone wants to gack it... )
