spellbound, the freudian hitchcock movie with ingrid bergman. oh my god, it's hysterical. the scene where gregory peck's amnesiac murder suspect love interest gets up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. the dramatic music swells as his gaze falls on the bedspread (where ingrid is sleeping as he has so chivalrously taken the couch)! he goes into the bathroom. he looks around. he contemplates shaving and then--he sees the white shaving foam as he's mixing it and freezes. our camera goes to the white sink (soundtrack: DUN!). to the white seat of a chair (soundtrack: dun!) to something else. what was it, the wall? (soundtrack: DUN!) and boy, you should see his reaction to parallel lines. i had a close friend in high school who was seriously creeped out by groups of spheres touching each other. however, i don't think that that was due to a guilt complex or that she ever witnessed a murder in a grape arbor.

and on my first ever complete re-read of philosopher's stone, i have to say it was both better and worse than i remembered it (possibly my memory associated it too heavily with the fanfiction or my impression of it suffered in comparison with poa and gof). i stand by my reading of possible future harry/hermione from certain events there, but i do see the setup with ron too. it's so much easier to be certain after you hear a rumor of the author's intent, no?

i talked to some twit on friday who didn't know that 'ou' was the british spelling of 'glamor.'

twit: rocknroll glamor, g-la-m-o-u-r...
me: ah, british.
twit: what?
me: it's the british spelling.
twit: what?
me: of glamour. the british spelling of glamor.
twit. oh. i guess. heh. i'm an american.

*how does everyone like the informative title? should i keep it up? ;)

here's a well-written and amusing and very long rant about the access denied tea storm, with a few little bits of probably-justifiable flame thrown in. so much fun to be had!

and then the real wank emerges on both sides of a little war in the comment threads when [livejournal.com profile] debchan bops by in a self-satisfied manner and [livejournal.com profile] misswindy is (perhaps understandably) torn between responding to the actual flame and flaming back on the totally unrelated morality/parenting skills wavelength.

sometimes i really love fandom wank.

i tried making icons for fun but i am too listless to put the borders on. it's hot and i'm sticky and weak and sore. and my sister lost poa and gof. my british editions of those are boxed in massachusetts in the house of my common-law step first cousin once removed.
