seconding [livejournal.com profile] elfiepike and [livejournal.com profile] viggorlijah that this article is quite uplifting.

he's decided to coin a term for a person having 'a worldview that is free of supernaturalism and mysticism.' thank you! and:
Brights constitute 60% of American scientists, and a stunning 93% of those scientists good enough to be elected to the elite National Academy of Sciences (equivalent to Fellows of the Royal Society) are brights. Look on the bright side: though at present they can't admit it and get elected, the US Congress must be full of closet brights.

(guess what the term is?)

edit: if you want to identify as one they're counting them.

reading the hound of the baskervilles (particularly famous sherlock holmes novel).

and saw for the first time ever the BEGINNING of 'arena,' one of my least favorite star trek episodes.

both of these are proving astonishingly slashy. making notes on the one and taping the other to make notes on later. also there're four hours of assorted stargate episodes on tonight. all, i will tape all of them.

my fingernails are too long, but i'm as satisfied as a writer can be, because in a little hissy fit earlier today i sent an e-mail to k'sal and she already answered it. it's so easy for a beta to please her writer. a lovely symbiotic relationship.

the downside to making pajama pants out of worn-to-gossamer 20-year-old cotton sheets is that it's easy to tear them open from the waistband to the middle of the back of the thigh. in fact, i have no memory of it whatever. discovered the rip a bit ago, watching qaf. was almost intrigued enough to rip them open to the hem. not like i can wear them anymore... can i? but they're so nice and comfy. ::doesn't take them off::
