i really sympathize with tim roth here.

'GARY OLDMAN LET'S DO IT' is a sentiment i can get behind.

i would love to do gary oldman.

for an old man he's really very sexy.

i watched basquiat last night, and he was albert milo, a less-famous peer of warhol's. basquiat was andy warhol's lover (gay!) at the time of his death, and a painter in his own right, though also less famous. it was a really good movie, but they were fucking cowards. the lovers shop together, stroll together, and paint together. but they don't touch. they don't make out or kiss, they don't hold hands, and i'm serious, they REALLY don't even TOUCH. ::stab::

lost in translation was sweet, contemplative, and pretty. it was a very accurate, and quietly humorous, look at a foreigner's stay in japan. i laughed out loud in a lot of places a the japanese where my parents, through lack of experience, didn't. it's poignant. it's quietly, a little tragically, romantic. it's very real-feeling. it's not a typical bill murray comedy; it's far too dramatic for that, and it's not funny enough. i'm saying only good things about it so you know there's a but coming: BUT... i was disappointed. i prefer the kind of literature that comes together a little more in the end, not the vignette-literature that just shows a portrait of a piece of life--however poetic or deeply speaking that piece of life is.

secretary was even better than i expected and i expected it to be good. it was filed under drama, but it was a neat hybrid of that and a rather wacky romantic comedy. it's sexy. it was very funny, and it was a sweet and ultimately rather fluffy, feel-good dominant/submissive thing between a compulsive cutter nut and a rather nuttier compulsive non-cutter nut. the compulsiveness is cute; the bdsm isn't really hardcore. the romance is sweet although not all fluff--not without poignancy or tension. maggie gyllenhaal and james spader are both very attractive, and i think it makes them more so. it's just an excellent movie.

there's this restaurant in birmingham; i think it's called the old mill, but i'm not positive.

and they have this HEAVENLY sandwich, grilled in a spinach tortilla glued shut with provolone: lime and chicken and rice and i can't remember what else but oh god, it's SO GOOD.

okay, i want it NOW.

instead mom is making burning beef stew, which i can't eat because it gives me stomach cramps, and trying to make me feel guilty cause i didn't want to stuff an onion with cloves to help them with it.

k'sal has overcome most of her difficulties and is recovering emotionally from the death of her dog, although she's having horrible back pain.

so if all goes well, she should be ready to send detailed beta-work of the latest substantial revision in the next couple of weeks.

she said she thinks it made a big difference--so i'm optimistic that i may soon get the final stamp of approval.
