finland update

so tys, the turku student village foundation, sent a letter about housing to my parents' house and it just arrived and... a deposit and a signed thing--signed by BOTH ME AND WAX--is due by 19 august.

these people!  what is it with their DEADLINES?  that's rather short even for natives--and it has to be because they have to have proof of registration first.  july is JUST TOO LATE to tell someone they've been accepted to a school that begins on 1 september.  and yet for all finland's public higher education, july 23rd is the last allowable day for notification.  wtff.

so i can breathe.

did i ever mention that my work-friend sherman--the learning-impaired middle-aged sacker?--told me he'd done me "a favor" last week, which it turned out was asking a student at the second-rate community college near here whether it was hard to get in?  (it isn't.)  my inner high school!cim, who i often think is dead, rears her head sometimes at times like this.  i said "oh, well, no need--i got in"--but what i wanted to say was "my college was the most selective liberal arts school in the country when they accepted me, so i think i can handle it."  ( 'deepness' )

is 46 square meters small for an apartment?

eta: it's TINY. say that's about 150 square feet, TOTAL. so that's 50 square feet a room, if the kitchen's a separate room. that's 5x10--the size of those u-haul trailers that you drag behind your car or truck. of course it could be instead, say, 8x8. maybe the kitchen is just one corner of one of the other rooms.

that seems rather high rent for such a little space. (418.80 euros a month?)
