chair couture.  "...takes vintage chair frames (more louie, louie than louis xvi) and dolls them up with paint, gilding and gaudy fabrics."  colour me in love.

also, i realised what was nagging me about william moseley, the eldest brother from narnia.  it's not that he actually looks familiar like i've seen him before; it's more that he looks quite similar to how i picture will in the dark is rising.  so now i have him (mentally) cast!  still baffled by bran and his annoyingly-hard-to-find-images-of albinism, unable to picture him properly.

my uploads are going along pretty well.  in the lastest project catwalk julian macdonald does, indeed, say to one of the designers, "i'm not going to say much about this dress because basically, i hate it."  i really can't imagine HHMK saying such a thing on air, a fact which i sorely regret.  julian macdonald is pretty awesome, though.  if anyone would like me to upload it too, drop a line.
cimorene: painting of a glowering woman pouring a thin stream of glowing green liquid from an enormous bowl (misanthropy)
danish-cartoon bodycount rising in nigeria.  the archbishop of denmark has travelled to cairo to bring his excellency the grand imam of [the world's highest sunni seat of learning] the newspaper's apologies, but the grand imam demands the danish prime minister should apologise and world religious leaders including the pope should write a law to condemn insulting any religion... which would then be enforced by the UN.

four wounded by gunfire in pakistan yesterday;  pakistani cleric offered $1 million and a new car bounty for murder of any of the danish cartoonists; one cartoonist has no regrets about drawing cartoons.

the day before yesterday rioters in libya set fire to the bottom story of the italian embassy (though none of its italian inhabitants were injured); security forces were forced to fire into the crowd to keep them back and eleven were killed.  this was probably sparked by a radical right-wing italian minister who publicly wore a shirt with one of the cartoons on it; he has since resigned, though not without a rather ungracious remark quoted in the first article.  meanwhile, the libyan government has suspended the minister of the interior as responsible for the crowd control.  an official is quoted saying it was too bad about burning the embassy, but the greater tragedy was the use of excessive force.  also some of the injured were egyptian and palestinian.  (which is relevant how?)  the same minister expressed pride that the demonstrators managed to bring about the italian asshole's resignation while other countries "refused or lagged behind in taking revenge for insults to their religion".

eta less depressing links.
