ugh.

i really dig the finnish chick in my spanish class. she's eager to speak english with me, which she, much like my better half, picked up from television. her accent's a little funky and today she was using it to tell me about how her parents went out of town for a two-week caribbean cruise and left her their car and she stayed up till 3 am last night watching sex and the city (i haven't marathoned that since i was in high school and kitten_head rented a bunch of them over christmas ♥). well, it's not one of my shows but i feel box-set-marathoning indicates a basic kindred spirit kinda thing anyway. this is the highest level of spanish offered here and she's majoring in physics, though, so probably after this class i'll never see her again.

and now sofia's here so wax is watching supernatural without headphones on. ew. i think i'm going to need my ipod to be able to study even if i shut myself up in the bedroom.

the beginning of the season

we keep talking about how it would be just as cheap to go to sweden as it would be to go to dinner and the movies, the way we usually do it. even though it seems that both of us have shamelessly large quantities of free time (though not necessarily always overlapping free time), the only spot we could find when we could possibly go to stockholm was at the same time as lillajulen, a somewhat significant holiday, and wax can't remember to check with her stockholm friends to find out if we're going or not. if we aren't, i am probably going to pout a lot unless we celebrate lillajulen properly, though. that will involve putting lights up and getting a small tabletop type of tree, i believe. i kinda want to bake things from scratch, too.

i walked through the trätorg today and the giant christmas tree (small compared to the one they will erect in front of the cathedral, though) is already up there. the lights aren't on it yet, though, so it's just looming there in the centre of the square, black and kind of imposing and kind of great. it's about three stories tall and not all that symmetrical - it looks like a real tree. i wonder if the lights go up over lillajulen, too.
