restaurant aurora
1 Feb 2007 07:30 amwax has lost a ton of weight and now is skinnier than she was when i first met her at
devon's place, partially because she's been eating almost exactly half as much as she used to. not that she's malnourished or anything. it's a bit alarming that so many people in the west are capable of eating more than twice what would be an ample diet for them, but i know i do it sometimes too.
we went with Brother Windows and his pregnant wife to take her mom out for her birthday at a nice restaurant, and by "we" i mean that Brother Windows's wife picked up the check and wax plans to pay them back later. it's not a very good idea to give yourself under two hours to eat a three-course meal at a fancy restaurant, even if said restaurant is practically deserted and efficient. in fact, we managed it, but wax's mom was moaning and fluttering and practically hyperventilating with stress the entire meal, and basically being as anxious as my neurotic dog, and much more anxious even than my mom (although less angry). every now and then someone would say "calm down, mother" or "i'm sure it will be fine" and she'd snap, "i KNOW that!" or "i'm TRYING to calm down!" or "it's just that i'm STRESSED!" the dinner was nice. i ate half of wax's salad and an artichoke bruschetta that was totally awesome. in my view, artichokes are definitely the noblest vegetable.
