I keep thinking about doing an unpopular fannish opinions meme, but that's basically just an excuse to whine if the opinions aren't in any particular way interesting. Definitely not worth it (not to mention embarrassing) if it's just like, "Everybody should stop talking about ___ before I actually faint into an irritation-induced trance" or "Recommending and/or liking ___ is an instant and inarguable proof of execrable taste" or "Breaking ___ OTP should be punishable by 24-hour internet outage and/or the server accidentally deleting all the offender's icons".

I don't really get into making formal statements about my political opinions relating to fandom controversies that mainly consist in a couple of people making speeches that outrage almost everyone else. My favourite commentary on the whole situation was that little Brian-macro, but if you want reasoned intelligence on the side of Good try [livejournal.com profile] kalpurna and [livejournal.com profile] fairestcat.

The night before last I dreamt that I had to drive a schoolbus from my sister's high school to my parents' house. First there was a trip to Rite Aid because we needed some lunch, but the Rite Aid was like a two-story place with a loft decorated like a wood cabin inside, and even though they had wooden ducks and other hunting accessories, as well as Halloween costumes and a children's book section decorated with beanbags, they didn't have any food. Then I couldn't drive and it was like an out-of-body experience might be, because I was looking down on the top of my head and the inside of the school bus and the road and trying to drive and I just couldn't steer, so when I got there I left the bus blocking the entire street. Unfortunately, Sandra Oh and the other actresses from Grey's Anatomy had moved into the house across the street from my parents and then Sandra came home and couldn't get into her driveway. So I apologised and ran out to move the bus. Then I went in the library for a nap, and when I came back outside there was a note on my front door from Brendon Urie. He had been driving a few carlengths behind me and my inept swerving had caused him to break the little plastic puzzlegame he was playing while driving (one of those mazes you have to tilt around to make a little silver ball get out). He left the broken game there with the ball wedged against the edge for demonstration, and I was going to be like "Hey, sorry, I'm not an asshole, I'll pay for it," but he was already gone. Right then Sandra Oh walked out the front door and crossed the street to ask if I'd help her hang Christmas decorations because her housemates were being little bitches about it.

"Sure," I said. "Hey, do you know Panic! At The Disco?" She said No. "Oh, they're this band of teenies, like four 18 year old guys and they make music that little teenaged girls love... anyway, I wondered if you could get in contact with this guy for me, but if you haven't heard of them... I wonder if you know someone who knows Pete Wentz." And then I woke up.

Okay, so now that I have Linux, I have four desktops. Also, my windows are pretty rad. My desktops, let me show you them. )

And that's Brother Windows's wedding portrait in the front. We have an unintentional shrine to heteronormativity in the corner because all our portraits of Wax's family are in full tux and white gown attire.

cim: I love you even though you have some lame icons.
wax: :| 'I love you even though you have lame icons!' THANK YOU, your Majesty.

Now running Semagic on Linux! Not so much with the iTunes, but Open Office can find and replace with carriage returns, so my lack of iTunes is the only real remaining lack.
