cimorene: cartoony drawing of a woman's head in profile giving dubious side-eye (writing)
Okay, maybe I should try reverse psychology on myself. Like instead of saying, "Uh-oh, I hope this doesn't turn out twice as long as it is now in the end" or "I'll have to work on cutting the plot down so that I can finish this section in a few thousand words," I should be like, "Well, ten thousand more words of this should do it!" For example. Maybe that would work. It's not the length per se that I object to, it's more the time investment. I could have written quite a few more stories of more sane fandom-appropriate modest length in the several weeks and 14,000 words I have spent on this last piece. (I knew I was going to regret switching POVs! That always makes the fucking thing longer! But - it was funny. :/)

And yesterday I started translating an Excel document, just adding a third column of translations, right, when the plugin wouldn't work to open it in Trados and edit the tags. Only our technical manager sent me a bilingual file and when I opened it I discovered it's actually got about ten times as many tags to translate as I thought. Goodbye, today. (But hello muneez?)

[livejournal.com profile] cimness: Emma Watson went to RDA last summer.
[livejournal.com profile] wax_jism: >:/
[livejournal.com profile] cimness: Are you frowning because you're trying to remember who Emma Watson is, or because you're trying to remember what RDA is?
[livejournal.com profile] wax_jism: What is RDA?
[livejournal.com profile] cimness: Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts.
[livejournal.com profile] wax_jism: Oh, you mean RADA.
[livejournal.com profile] cimness: XD Oh that's right. RDA is Richard Dean Anderson. I knew it was one of those acronyms.
[livejournal.com profile] wax_jism: 'Royal... Dramatic Arts? What is she doing with Richard Dean Anderson?'
