random, and the da vinci code

i suddenly realised today that tomorrow i'm going to ekenäs because wax's brother marre is graduating from college. i'll be there overnight. sadly it's raining, which means it would be a pain to walk into town to replace the headphones for my ipod. also this means it was a bad idea to make singin' in the rain icons all day yesterday, and instead of watching prince of tennis today i should finish the rewrites for my half-a-novellette.
in other news, i saw the da vinci code on sunday (in another one of these episodes of family togetherness, which are very pleasant actually). my own concise summary, in two sentences, is that 1. i'd kind of expected it to offer something new about the knights templars that i couldn't already have learned (well, "learned") from the tombraider films, and 2. until the end of this movie i wouldn't have thought it possible that a film could have been improved by tom hanks and audrey tautou having sex, but this one could have. however, because they're kind of great, i offer in addition
cleolinda's observation that "well, the da vinci code did not make me want to kill myself" and
emmuzka's slightly more colourful comment that the holes in the plot were large enough to have allowed flying cows to pass through them.
finally, more amusing fun with wikipedia: someone thinks that structuralist literary theory is really stupid. you've got to love the strategic use of quotation marks. down with semiotics! down! or up, which is just an inversion of down...
