cimorene: cartoony drawing of a woman's head in profile giving dubious side-eye (fallen)

wait. wait. whoa. i really, REALLY need to know what these lyrics mean. i'm just torturing myself right now by recognising like one word in six.

i also keep noticing, as i listen to tezuka's and ryoma's albums and singles mixed together in a playlist, that the repetition of phrases and words from song to song extends past just the duets and dedications. some of them are even fairly innocuous, like "higher, stronger" and "everyone is here". i should start making notes.

!!!ETA: translation posted in comments by [livejournal.com profile] kyuuketsukirui reveals this to be as strong a tezuryo song as the dedications and duets, i think--and about as romantic as "futari" or "dakishimete shimai sou sa" except ANGSTY and also explicitly about ryomaryomaryoma in like every single line.

Just the two of us on the deserted train platform
We just sat there quietly
Our hearts welling up with emotion as our words trailed off
Your voice was shaking

I want to abandon my heart to the wind
Like the nameless flowers
Fluttering on the side of the tracks

I won't forget this time with you
Our era
Is starting here from this empty place
The time to start our journey has arrived
I won't change; I swear I won't disappear
Let's aim for the future
Led by the promise we made that day
That's the proof that I met you

I always watched you
As you ran recklessly around the school grounds after school

"I wish time would stop"
Your words pierce my heart
And another season ends

I won't forget the fact
That we were always here
That radiance, that irritation
Is carved into our unfading youth
I'll keep looking ahead as I walk
Though the road is long and at times
I might get hurt and nearly fall
That's the proof that I met you

If I hold you tight
Instead of saying goodbye
We'll go back to that instant
When our hearts touched
Feeling the sound of the distant rails
Through my spine
Choosing our own paths
Is the proof that we met

Clearly, I will have to have this song on repeat while writing angst. *makes note*

:((

don't worry. ryoma won't let them be separated for very long before he returns to tezuka. i'm sure he is all in favour of choosing their own paths, he just wants those paths to be together most of the time.

this is what i say, but actually i'm feeling wibbly and getting sniffly. DAMMIT. tezuka, why must you angst so effectively!

ahföaskldjföaskldfasö thank you! ♥

god. why does it end sadly!

even though i am absolutely convinced that 'choosing their own paths' only involves being in different places for a few years at most before they set up house and conquer the world of pro tennis together. nobody can angst like tezuka, though.

i'm going to go wibble some more now.

i think you are going to be sorry you said that! there are a few gaps in the translations at ore-sama.net and i have 38 ryoma songs and 22 tezuka ones. but just for the moment, my greatest curiosity is since last goodbye (http://www.ore-sama.net/ff/lyrics/singles/tezuka.html#6) and mighty wing (http://www.ore-sama.net/ff/lyrics/solos/tezuka.html#5).

Not so gay...

*****

Here in this quiet place where the wind doesn't blow, I close my eyes
All I can hear is my own heartbeat
The instant I open my eyes, the game will begin
I'm going ahead to a world no one's seen before

Is every coincidence calculated?
I just entrust my future to a lonely game
There's no guarantee; I'm my own opponent
With all my strength, I shake free, putting my soul into it

The things I have in my grasp
If I shoot the arrow of time, it will only fly straight ahead
I won't set aside my dreams and hopes
No matter what happens, I'll show you I can fly from here

I feel pain and pride
But I'll stand and face my hesitation and impatience
Even if these wings are plucked off
I'll fly high and strong

The feelings I have in my grasp
I can see something up ahead
I'll protect it with my mighty wings
Keep believing in the path of light and move on!

I won't set aside my dreams and hopes
No matter what happens, I'll show you I can fly from here

oh, thank you! i didn't really recognise many of the words, but i suspected it was about tennis instead of other people for some reason.

öalskdjföaskl although obviously, "you" is ryoma, because tezuka never manages to entirely leave him out of things.

You're welcome. :) And so far the songs have been a cinch. Why don't I get songs this easy requested for my site? Why do I always get stupid rap songs that are so long and frustrating!?

öaskldjföasljd. most of the pot songs are kind of short. and except for inui's, they're not remotely like rap. mostly they're either like some cracked-out refugee from sesame street, or one of those adult pop stations.

[livejournal.com profile] athena8 actually did a translation of "Since Last Goodbye" here (http://athena8.livejournal.com/81069.html), so you don't have to do that one.

Apologies for capslock; was somewhat overwrought.

You know, either I am having very unoriginal ideas, or everyone else is psychic.

köasflkjök. i have a whole bunny in my head now. or two bunnies at least. one that involves "since last goodbye".

but don't worry, wonapalei, they don't involve calling across timezones per se.
