the wedding was really great. every time i spend any time with wax's family, i come away feeling extremely warmed and happy. i've loved and relied on my extended family my whole life, and i'm lucky to have landed, halfway around the world, in one which completely enchants me.

i'm going to post a couple of pictures even though it's a bit out of order since i've never posted any of our pictures from germany and france.

this is the campground-spa-resort-spot where we stayed in a wee summer cabin. it looks great (a bit like the alps, but with no mountains, just hills), but it wasn't actually hot enough to swim if you aren't finnish.

these are wax's cousins hanna, kristofer and fanny from sweden. they're extremely cool. wax and i are going to set up some kind of goat cheese farm or something with hanna and her boyfriend. well, not really, but it was a nice idea.

our family doesn't have many surviving photos of my paternal grandmother, because all the time my dad and aunts were growing up, she was the one who took all the pictures (many of them have oblongs cut out of one edge where she accidentally got her fingers in the frame). i'm probably doomed to the same fate since [livejournal.com profile] wax_jism hates taking pictures, and is even worse at it than i am. however, there are certainly some more of me from this wedding (in which i'm not making silly faces) since wax's sister-in-law (not to mention the wedding photographer) took zillions. we'll probably get to see them later.

isn't it great? the wallpaper was ancient old paper held up at the top with a row of nails - you could see where it wasn't flat against the walls since they've settled and aren't all flat anymore. i took a ton of pictures of it.

That is an extremely cool house!

Very good pictures; your dress was gorgeous! Though I see what you meant about the shawl. <.<;

the house was fabulous! it also had a great view, a swimming beach, and a bunch of horses! the only thing it didn't have was air conditioning, which sucked when it got over 30 at the reception.

time to burn the shawl in effigy!

Fantastic house and colours and sunshine--somehow I didn't believe that it was really summer in Finland.

This picture looks like Wax is preparing to do the Beatle/Abbey Road thing. It's great.

and this one is probably the happiest I've seen La Wax look in a photo:

You both look lovely (I'm confused why you needed a shawl and the girl wearing the halter top didn't) and that particular shade of red looks fab on you.

hanna had a shawl, too! you can't see it in that picture - it was a cream-coloured crinkled silk. and yeah, i actually have a picture of wax and marcus wrestling. she is never so animated as when she is with her favourite brother (well, when all three of them are together they can get even more lively, but it's more because there's three of them than because they are individually louder). in fact, everybody loves both of her brothers, but martin is much shyer. mece is the life of any party. he was the first non-wax person i ever met in finland. ♥

however, basically wax's mom was actually on crack about the shawls, because there were a number of women on leena's side of the church (the finnish side) with bare shoulders. the finns, according to [livejournal.com profile] shiroi_chi, are notorious for not caring about covered shoulders in churches (she says it is the posher and more proper swedish finns only who care about such things). i was irritated when i noticed all the bare shoulders, especially after that shawl-agony.

House is nice! I just spent a week in one of those old sea mansion kind of things at the old Loviisa. :3 Not as nicely kept that place but probably about the same age. *nodnods*

And here I realize you live in Finland?

Nice dress! And now I'll go back to my extensive flist dig through. :D

i live in finland because my better half, [livejournal.com profile] wax_jism, is a [swedish-speaking] finn, but i'm actually american! i really need to do one of those "ten things i assume you know about me" posts, especially since i'm just getting into a new fandom.

:> it'd have been great to stay in that house, but it was just a swanky restaurant or a country club or something. but we were actually sleeping in a little cabin at a big campground-spa-thing on a lake. where's loviisa?
