1. the second quarter starts tomorrow. i'm ready for it to be christmas, ie for the second quarter to be over. also, there are no classes i need offered when i can take them, but what else is new, right?

2. our vaccuum broke like... a month ago. our flat is so, so gross, y'all. sofia keeps coming over with hektor, the puppy of cute, and he amuses himself by eating dust bunnies. no, literally. and they crunch. we really, really need a new vaccuum.

3. wax and i had a long meaningful heart-to-heart last night in which she evolved a theory about why we work so well together, viz that we are both what she calls "burrowers" who like to hide from the world. "we're little mice," she elaborated, "and we want to crawl into our little hole and make a little nest, and line it with shiny things -" (pointing at the solid wall of dvds, cds and books surrounding our monitors). by the time she had moved on to ikea and blankets i was gasping with laughter. it's so true. i am a mouse.

4. i love wikipedia. and satsumas are better than candy.

I'm a burrower too! That sounds pretty much like how I've always described my, er, lifestyle (or rather lack of anything such). I don't like the world. I just like my nest, and the shiny things in it. But instead of a mouse I think I'm more like a hamster or maybe a magpie. Because of all the obsessive hoarding of The Shiny. :D

the new ikea sofa is an excellent nest-centre because it's so shiny just in itself. and from it all the dvds are visible with their comforting, bright-coloured and alphabetised spines. mmm... dvds.

You guys are making me wonder how I fit in this little circle of mice (I totally typed 'mouses' for a second there). How does someone not like the world and all its shiny and its people and its everything!? I'm feeling physical pain imagining that!

The world is essentially the same all around, except sometimes with even more bugs and germs and scary people and bad plumbing.

Note that I haven't even been downtown in, I think, over a month. Or to any lectures either. :D

but anyway, you can be our friend without having to be actually physically permanently stuffed in a mousehole. it's not a requirement. we don't check ID.
