I don't know the Hokey-Pokey either. I mean, I know how the rhyme goes, but the dance? Nope.

Betcha there are European dances you don't know about, though! ;)

Obviously, but I never did understand what they meant by 'put your left foot in'. Put it in what? I could understand if you were supposed to put it out first, then in, but as is it makes no sense to me.

You're standing in a circle. You put it forward, which puts it into the center of the circle.

Ooooh, it all makes sense in the context of a circle. Now I can do the Hokey-Pokey! ;)

Ah. The dance is usually performed around a deep fryer, you see.

I don't know why that's so hilarious. I think it's the word itself: "Hokey-Pokey".

"Put your right foot in...come on, come on, people! Or we'll never get to part where we shake it all about on purpose!"

But I know the Hokey-Pokey! We had to do the Hokey-Pokey lots of times at school. Maybe it's a generational thing or something?

I'm scared of the Hokey-Pokey ever since that X-Files episode.

After the composer of the Hokey-Pokey died, there was a terrible incident at his burial.

They put his left foot in...
