The thing about babies eating real food is that if they're eating real food, they're also puking up real food. Sometimes like, 80% of the real food that you put into them.

eta: I'm also super jazzed that Carmela wanted me to put her to bed tonight instead of one of her parents. I wasn't going to put that in the update at all because I'm aware of how completely lame it is, yes, but it does feel pretty validating, okay? And for once she was actually being good, that's the weird thing. I had to read the book of nursery rhymes to her like three and a half times, but it was a way short book - I was surprised (from my experience of Perrin) that she didn't demand a longer one. And then she just sort of lay down and hummed to herself for a while and asked for her favourite doll and said I could go.

It's funny how they eat only a small portion of "real" food. It's like, "I'm sorry it's not as much of a delicacy as mushed peas and formula."

Oh, this is puréed real food. It's just real food as opposed to... milk or forumla.

Oh, okay, well I guess that would make formula the ultimate delicacy.

My nephews grew teeth just so they could tap real food. I'm not even kidding, the oldest had three teeth the day he turned three months old.

...it's always kind of validating to be chosen to do something for a kid. My oldest nephew has decreed that I'm the person who gets to go and watch Disney movies with him over and over again. (Notice I said "validating" and not "not annoying as hell".) And my youngest nephew (for the moment), who is one and a half, well. Every time I go to their apartment, as soon as I walk in the door, he runs for me, yells "Homie!" (that being what they call me), and then hugs me for fifteen minutes straight. He doesn't do that for anyone else. *g*
