1. (Batman wip) Back in the days before cell phones, there were always situations where you couldn't reach someone and you urgently needed their ass on the corner of Ennis and West 64th or at the abandoned diner across the street from Locklear's with the information yesterday, and all you could do was call their pager and wait.

2. (Batman, Anomaly) Although Jim's covert ops training wasn't up to getting him into Wayne Manor without Alfred's knowledge, his people skills were able to get him past alone when he said "I'll find my own way up, if that's okay."

3. (Batman, Reveal) Bruce has thought about this so much he probably has calluses on his right hand with Jim Gordon's name on them.

4. (Batman, Being Realistic) Jim has told himself for a long time that there can't be anyone in Gotham starring in more sexual fantasies than Batman.

5. (MCR, Fantasy Book) At the time, it was like, Great, of course the fans who are waiting around to give you chocolate bars and like, are those Skittles?, and a whole fucking shitload of candy, of course they show up when you're in the middle of rushing back to the hotel because Ray and Bob and Mikey all have food poisoning.

6. (Arashi, Just One of the Boys) Jun had been on the movie set in Chiba for what felt like about five million years.

13. (Arashi, Gonin) The lyrics were hand-written in Sho's neat handwriting, in pencil on a much-folded piece of lined paper torn from a notebook. The title at the top said "Tension", but there were smears around it where more characters had been erased.

(Arashi, Things to Do in Uzbekistan) Nino makes it through a large part of China and Mongolia with his English and a couple of words of Chinese, and he doesn't even need anything but English in Russia, although the phrasebook he picks up there helps him out of a few sticky spots in restaurants and bus terminals in Kazakhstan.

15. (Arashi, In the Lead) Nino and Ohno have gotten married many times, starting when Nino was only seventeen and Ohno was given a toy plastic ring and turned around and put it on Nino's finger, and Sho performed the ceremony in a clearing on the set of the video they were filming.

16. (Arashi, Knowledge) The first time Nino crawled into Ohno's lap, Ohno really was surprised.

(Arashi, Aiba's Diner) it's nino's distinctive and unmistakeable voice that draws aiba's attention away from trying to turn a crepe without wrinkling it (french cuisine isn't exactly his specialty, but he likes to try things out of his cookbook collection when there aren't many customers in the diner and he's got some free time).

(Arashi, Flowchart) "you came!" says aiba happily, and makes a movement that seems divided between clapping his hands and opening the closet to let sho put his coat in it; it's lucky that the motion is aborted in mid-bounce and aiba instead bounds into the kitchen at the sound of the tea kettle coming to a boil, because had he opened the closet it would certainly have hit sho in the face.

22. (Arashi, To Be Expected) nino is lounging possessively in ohno's lap, spread out over most of the couch and most of ohno, while he explains to sho just what it is that makes good won-ton soup (he has been trying to insist that the value of pepper is empirical, not a matter of taste, and wants to prove it with popularity. sho is trying to keep the discussion from veering into statistics at any cost; he knows how nino loves to make statistics up. he delights in arguing as nonsensically as possible until sho can't remember what they were talking about any longer).

23. (Arashi, Shopping for Ohno) "come on," nino says, "you can't tell me you would buy that for yourself!"

24. (Prince of Tennis, Summer Librarian) Kunimitsu has already been going to the Arts & Sciences Library daily for a week and a half when he arrives one day to find his copy machine broken.

25. (Prince of Tennis, Aozu & Kyappu to Bin: Live Tour in USA 2003 Summer) When Tezuka steps off the elevator in the hotel lobby, everyone else is already there.

The most notable pattern, for me, is that the first lines of each fandom are more similar to each other than to the others. Overall, there's 10 of what I'd call setup first lines (ie when the beginning of the action happens, this is what's already going on...) and only #7 & #16 start with an emotional reaction/character monologue (although 7 could sort of count as setup and 16 as action as well). 11 start with action and there are three, all in the same fandom, that start with dialogue.
